International Airlines Group (IAG) is looking to Israeli startups to enhance the company’s new accelerator program called Hangar 51. IAG is the parent company of Aer Lingus, British Airways, Iberia, Vueling and IAG Cargo.

The company is searching for new technologies which can streamline the whole process for for air travelers. We all know how difficult flying can be, especially with all the security checks. And how many times have you heard a story about someone missing a connecting flight only because a a technical error or how someone’s luggage did not make it to the connecting flight? These are the types of problems which AIG is trying to solve.

IAG has invited startups to join the Hangar 51 program to, “create next generation travel experiences and find solutions to real business challenges through lasting and collaborative partnerships.” The company offers startups a ten week program in which they will be given mentoring from experienced entrepreneurs.

The program will begin in January and be conducted in London. Applications close this Sunday 6th.

L Marks Digital Communications Officer Jessica Hale told Geektime, “Passengers currently spend a lot of time navigating airport check-in, baggage drop-off, security as well as the physical building itself. IAG are looking for technologies which can help their customers navigate the airport, finding services and facilities such as the airline lounge more easily, as well as speeding up the check-in process. In addition, technologies improving customer support, through apps or AI would also be beneficial to their customers.”

Israeli startups can rest assured that they are highly regarded and sought after by IAG for their innovations. The company was quoted in The Times of Israel saying, “The wealth of start-ups and innovation in the market makes Israel a key target for Hangar 51. IAG is keen to discover and work with disruptive Israeli start-ups that can help ‘transform the aviation industry.'”
