Following rise in terror attacks in Turkey, including the recent suicide bombing at a wedding that killed 54 people, Turkish ground and air forces, in cooperation with US-led coalition, have launched an offensive attack against ISIS.
It is known that the “maroon berets” special forces and armored formations of Turkey have crossed the Turkish-Syrian border. Currently, only tank, artillery and air strikes are delivered on the terrorists’ positions, TASS reported.

The Turkish army began firing artillery rounds into the Syrian border town of Jarablus around 1:00am GMT, while Turkish and US warplanes struck Islamic State targets with airstrikes as part of the operation, Turkish military sources said.
Turkey’s artillery and F-16 aircraft have destroyed more than 80 targets of the Islamic State (ISIS), the Haberturk TV channel has reported. The Turkish forces are using howitzers and multiple launch rocket systems.
Turkey say the army only provides support to the Syrian forces fighting against the IS group, not the beginning of ground operation although its special forces and armored formations are involved in clearing the town, according to the report.
Turkey’s TV channel NTV reported earlier that Turkey had officially informed Russia about the start of the operations in the north of Syria.
Reuters reports that Turkey is also concerned about the growing influence of Syrian Kurdish militant groups along its border, where they have captured large areas of territory since the start of the Syrian war in 2011. Ankara sees them as tied to the Kurdish militants fighting an insurgency in Turkey.
