Israel will partner with the government of Kenyan county Kiambu, to upgrade the county’s roads. The Israelis are using new technology globally known as Soil Enhancing Solutions capitalises on enzymes to modify roads, irrespective of the soils. It is considered more environmental friendly compared to bitumen, its cheaper and create jobs.
Governor William Kabogo was in Thika, Kiambu’s largest town, during a demonstration on how to use the cheap soil technology. He said the move will reduce maintenance costs, as well as the cost of transport for industries.
“We partnered today with I-Tec-W from Israel to demonstrate how their soil-stabilising solution is effective in upgrading our roads. Israel is ahead of us in technology and we believe after we have done enough tests they will come back and tender, ” Kabogo said.

The investors are part of the team which visited the country together with Netanyahu to enhance business relations. President Uhuru Kenyatta described the visit as a gain for the two countries to extend relations in trade, tourism and technology. “As a county and government we will continue working closely with other stakeholders to boost trade and create opportunities, ” Kabogo said.
The county and national government will carry out tests using international standards on the 400 meter test roadbed test road developed by the Israelis. Kabogo said, after meeting the standards, I-Tec-W will now tender to construct 200km of major link roads between towns in a pilot project. “We know with this new technology Israel will help us construct 3, 500 kilometres of road infrastructure as per our 2017 infrastructure plan, ” he said.
