The New England Patriots have released rookie offensive tackle Kyler Kerbyson, in order to make room for safety and special teams ace Nate Ebner.
Ebner, who starred at the Olympics with the U.S. Rugby Sevens, signed a two-year contract extension in March after being selected in the 6th-round of the 2012 NFL Draft.

The former Ohio State Buckeye will be removed from the reserves list and placed on the active roster.
Back from his stint with the U.S. Olympic rugby team, New England Patriots safety Nate Ebner must readjust to the sport that pays the bills, says masslive.com.
In an interview with USA Today, Ebner described what the process will entail. Most importantly, he’ll have to regain the muscle mass he shed while training for rugby.
“When my neck muscles get acclimated to wearing a helmet the whole time I think I’ll be good to go, ” Ebner told USA Today. “Probably gain a little bit of weight. But I’m just going to take it one day at a time. I’m not worried about things physically being a big problem.”
“Not a ton (of weight), not as much as you would think, ” he explained. “We had weeks where we were running between 20 and 30 miles in practice. So, yeah, you’re going to lose some weight.”
