The Countries Most Welcoming To Refugees

Refugees Welcome Dortmund- source africasacountry

Which countries are the most and least welcoming to refugees around the world? Amnesty International published the results of a survey of 27, 000 people in 27 countries, finding almost everybody in Spain, Germany, Jordan and China would personally accept people fleeing war or persecution into their countries. Russia was at the opposite end of the scale with only 33 percent of respondents saying they would personally accept refugees into their country. Poland also had a lower than average welcoming rate of just 56 percent.

How Do Americans Feel About Taking In Refugees?

Americans overwhelmingly favor taking in refugees, according to a recent YouGov poll. 52 percent of respondents said that the United States should provide refuge to people fleeing war and oppression while 21 percent said it should not. However, when it comes to Syrian refugees, Americans take a harder line. When asked if their country should accept more or fewer Syrians, 30 percent said fewer, 26 percent said more and 19 percent said they want it to stay the same.

This chart shows responses to the question “would you personally accept people fleeing war/persecution into your country?”
