The World’s Most Punctual Airlines

air baltic

Last year, Tokyo Haneda had the very best on-time performance (OTP) of any large airport around the world, according to OAG’s Punctuality League. Haneda handles over 70 million passengers a year and 91.25 percent of its flights were on schedule. When it comes to the most reliable airlines for on-time performance, airBaltic tops the table for the second year in a row. An impressive 94.4 percent of flights operated by the Latvia’s national carrier arrived within 15 minutes of their planned arrival time. American carriers are conspicuous by their absence from the list.

Statistics and facts about passenger airlines

In 2014, global air passenger traffic is projected to generate around 600 billion U.S. dollars in revenue. In 2014, Germany’s Lufthansa was the world’s second-largest airline in terms of sales, trailing only Delta. American Airlines Group and Emirates topped the list of the world’s leading airlines based on net profit. American’s net profit came to around 2.9 billion U.S. dollars in 2014.

In 2014, Emirates Airlines was the airline with the highest brand value, closely followed by Delta, American and Lufthansa. Emirates had an estimated brand value of just under 5.5 billion U.S. dollars.

In light of growing affluence in emerging markets and increased trade relations between a number of countries, passenger demand is fuelled by tourists and businesspeople alike. Additionally, Ryanair and Southwest Airlines have revolutionized the airline business with the introduction of innovative low-fare business models, which are attracting a growing customer base.

The World’s Longest Non-Stop Flights

Emirates recently announced that it is launching a new flight from Dubai to Panama City. Starting in February 2016, the airline’s Boeing 777-200LR aircraft will be airborne for 17 hours and 35 minutes on the journey westbound, making it the longest non-stop flight in the world. Qantas’ route between Sydney and Dallas Fort Worth was the world’s previous longest route at 16 hours and 55 minutes across 13, 804 kilometres, according to the World Economic Forum using Flightmapper data.
