Stars to boycott Oscars over lack of nominees’ diversity

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is answering the growing calls for a boycott over its lack of diversity in the 2016 Oscar nominations. For the second year in a row, no person of color was nominated in the no person of color was nominated in the acting categories, prompting actress Jada Pinkett Smith and director Spike Lee to announce Monday they’re planning to boycott the Oscars next month. Kevin Frazier of “Entertainment Tonight” reports.

“The idea that we could go two years in a row, where 40 actors could be nominated and none of them were black, is just crazy, ” says Oscar-winning director Michael Moore , plans to join the boycott of this year’s Academy Awards organized by Spike Lee and Jada Pinkett Smith, the Oscar-winning filmmaker told TheWrap on Monday night.
