After more than a decade in which Monarch stopped flying to Israel, the airline has returned to the country big-time. On December 3, Monarch began two routes with thrice-weekly operations from Luton airport near London to Ben Gurion airport and weekly flights each Thursday from Ovda near Eilat to Luton.

Monarch’s head of network development Marjan Schoeke said, “We continuously refine and develop our network strategy looking closely at where and at what time our customers want to fly. In addition and based on demand we will also be launching a Manchester to Tel Aviv service. This follows on from a successful launch of flights to Israel at the beginning of December.”
