Billie Lourd, 23, spoke to People magazine about the coveted role “On special occasions I would make [Carrie] get in a lightsaber fight with me, ” she said.

People has more pictures of Lourd in action on set, working alongside one of the droids PZ-4C0 as part of the Resistance.

The young actress says Leia, her mother’s iconic character, will definitely be an inspiration for her persona onscreen.

“When I saw the movie for the first time, I noticed my mom was not only equally as confident and strong as the men, she was one of the most confident characters in the entire film, ” Lourd said. “It made me realize women are just as powerful as men and that we can truly do anything they can – if not more!”
