Our CEO, Mr. Jacques Desbois, has always been inspired by snow and Nordic climates. He went to Sweden to visit the original Ice Hotel and decided that Québec should have its own. That is how the idea came about. The first edition had 6 rooms, we now have 36 rooms. The project evolved over the years.
The Hotel is built every year in December to be open only at the winter time, during three months from January to March of each year. How is to have a new Hotel / project every year?
It is a challenge for our entire team, but it is also exciting and it pushes the limits of our creativity every year. We have a new design each season, which makes our product so different and interesting.
The Hotel is available for lodging, visits and events. How is the frequency?
We have approx. 100 000 visitors each year and between 4000 and 5000 people in overnight stays.
What attracts people?
People seeking a once in a lifetime experience, curiosity and discovery.
What is the average temperature inside the Hotel?
The temperature inside the hotel is very stable. Between -3 and -5 degrees Celsius.
How can we have comfort being at such low temperature?
First of all, clothing plays an important role in keeping yourself comfortable. People staying with us receive a preparation guide prior to their arrival and also they have a training session preparing them for their overnight stay. We explain what to wear and what fabrics are recommended. Also, at night the sleeping bags delivered to the rooms can go to temperature of -30 degrees Celsius, so you really don’t feel the cold at night.
What kind of experience the hotel want to transmit?
The ultimate winter experience! An unforgettable night! A must-see winter attraction!
