The trailer for the upcoming comedy Zoolander 2, which stars Ben Stiller, Benedict Cumberbatch and Owen Wilson, was released a few days ago and some people already feel insulted.

Benedict Cumberbatch has been blasted for his transgender role as an androgynous model. LGBTQ activists even call for a boycott as they object to a specific transphobic funny scene.

The main characters, Derek Zoolander (Ben Stiller) and his buddy Hansel (Owen Wilson), deal with their replacement by newer models. Cumberbatch has played an androgynous model named All.

Stiller and Wilson find his status confusing.

In the trailer, Stiller asks Cumberbatch: “Are you like a male model or a female model?”

Owen Wilson’s Hansel then adds: “I think he’s asking do you have a hot dug or a bun?”

Cumberbatch responds: “All is All.”

The scene has resulted in a petition calling for a boycott, and it has hit 10, 906 supporters – only 95 below it’s target.

Twitter users have also hit out, with one writing: “Warning: Transphobia in The Zoolander 2 trailker. Basically Benedict Cumberbatch’s character is a transphobic joke. (sic)”
