American Eagle Outfitters is looking for a CMO as Michael Leedy looks to step down from 15 September 2015, after more than four years, following a two year stint as CMO at Chico’s. He also worked with American Eagle Outfitters from 1994 to 2006.
According to a statement from the American Eagle Outfitters Leedy will be serving in an advisory role when needed, to ensure a smooth transition.

Roger Markfield, executive creative director said. “Leedy was instrumental in establishing our early brand DNA, our loyalty program and significantly influenced initiatives such as the launch of the AEO direct business. Leedy’s departure comes amidst the company seeing its total net revenue increased 12% to a record $797 million from $711 million last year. Consolidated comparable sales increased 11%, compared to a 7% decrease last year.
According to Jay Schottenstein, interim CEO of the company, both American Eagle and its sister brand Aerie delivered strong sales and earnings growth across channels.
