Faigy Mayer, 30, a startup founder and iOS developer, jumped to her death from a rooftop on Monday night, police told the New York Post.
Mayer sprinted toward a shrubbery-lined ledge of the terrace at 230 Fifth’s rooftop bar, climbed up, and jumped to her death at about 7:30 p.m., the Post reports.

Authorities identified Mayer by a purse and backpack she had left behind at the rooftop.
According to her LinkedIn page, Mayer founded her startup Appton two years ago in 2013:
Appton is a mobile and web solutions startup helping companies and users with their specific needs. As the CEO and iOS developer, I form teams which include UX designers, developers, and industry participants to serve business needs or create demand for a product.
Mayer had developed a number of iOS apps, including NYCTips, a New York restaurant tip calculator, a parking app called Carma, and an app called ExpenseTracker.
She graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 2015 and received a masters from the City University of New York’s Brooklyn College as well. She constantly updated her Twitter feed with tech-related news.
She worked for a tech company in New York City named Meta Kreative, and also worked for New York’s famed Jockey Club.
Mayer was featured in a National Geographic documentary about the Hasidic Jewish community. She speaks at the 15:59 mark of the film. Since leaving the Hasidic community, Mayer worked for an organization which helps people who want to leave the lifestyle adjust to American life. One of her friends wrote on Facebook that Mayer had been suffering from depression.
