Reid Hoffman, the co-founder of LinkedIn and a partner at Greylock, is worried that Donald Trump intends to use the powers of the presidency to retaliate against the billionaire once he returns to office on January 20. Hoffman has been an outspoken critic of the former and soon to be once again president.
Reid Hoffman was also a big supporter of Vice President Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign.
Specifically, Hoffman is concerned about an IRS audit. However, there are many ways that Donald Trump as president could come after him. And Reid Hoffman also needs to be concerned with Elon Musk. The Tesla founder is Trump’s new BFF and Hoffman has clashed with Musk over the years.

“I think that there’s a greater than 50% chance that there will be repercussions from a misdirection and corruption of the institutions of state to respond to my having tried to help Harris get elected,” Reid Hoffman told host Steven Cliff Bartlett on Monday’s “The Diary of a CEO” podcast. “It could get much worse, but I don’t really want to speculate on it because I don’t want to give anybody any ideas.”
Reid Hoffman is also concerned about how a second Donald Trump Administration will harm America’s standing in the world. In June he told CNN, “It is the trust that other countries have in us in our system and how we interact, which allows our industries to export and allows the dollar to be the reserve world currency of the world. And that’s the reason why Biden is fundamentally, no matter what, more pro-business than Trump.”
“The rule of law is what has made America very special,” Hoffman said criticizing Donald Trump’s clear contempt for America’s system of checks and balances. “It has made an environment for business that has been spectacular and a glowing beacon to the entire world.”
Reid Hoffman is a prominent figure in the world of technology and business. LinkedIn is a widely used business-oriented social network that facilitates professional networking. Hoffman serves as the company’s executive chairman.
He’s a partner at Greylock Partners, a venture capital firm that invests in early-stage companies. He’s also Chairman of Village Global, another venture capital firm.
Reid Hoffman joined Greylock in 2009 and focuses on early-stage investing in products that can reach hundreds of millions of participants. His unique understanding of consumer behavior and a clear-eyed ability to guide startups from inception through ramped-up “blitzscaling” has made him one of the most sought-after advisors, partners, and investors today. Reid was a board observer for Airbnb and currently serves as a board director for Aurora, Blockstream, Coda, Convoy, Entrepreneur First, Joby Aviation, Microsoft, Nauto, and a few early-stage companies still in stealth.
