The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) canceled the call-up of new recruits scheduled for today, Sunday, because of security concerns. The IDF’s Meitav Unit, which is responsible for handling the induction of new recruits, said that due to a “security situation assessment,” it decided to delay the call-ups of the new recruits. However, no reason was given for the delay.
The decision to delay the new call ups came as Israel enters into the second year of its “Iron Swords War” against Hamas terrorists in Gaza, which began after Hamas enacted the barbaric October 7 massacre. It also came after the Israel Air Force completed a successful assault on Iranian missile facilities, even striking the Iranian capital Tehran itself.
Those attacks are said to have crippled Iran’s missile program. Reports indicate it will take two years for Iran to be able to once again produce the types of long range missiles that it used to attack Israel just a few weeks ago. Israel’s attack on Iran was made in response to the Iranian assault that came just one day before the Rosh Hashanah holiday.

According to Israeli Ynet News and its commentator Ron Ben Yishai, the secret base Israel Attacked is Perchin, 48 miles east of Teheran. The first time the International Atomic Energy Agency mentioned Perchin was In a report from 2011, about four years before the signing of the nuclear agreement. The report noted that Iran had built a facility at the Perchin military base for conducting hydrodynamic experiments, which “indicates the possible development of nuclear weapons,” according to the report. Perchin is one of the main bases in Iran’s nuclear program and in its underground bunkers, where attempts are made to simultaneously activate explosives that are part of the bomb mechanism, as well as hydrodynamic experiments related to the development of nuclear weapons.
The IDF spokesperson’s office said of the decision to delay the call ups of new recruits, “According to the assessment of the situation, studies and educational activities will take place tomorrow according to the directives of the Home Front Command and the memorial ceremonies in memory of the martyrs of the Seventh of October [massacre] will take place as planned. At the end of a targeted situation assessment, it was decided to postpone the recruitment day tomorrow in general for the recruitment bureaus. The IDF conducts ongoing situation assessments, and will update any further changes immediately.”
