French President Emmanuel Macron has barred twelve Israeli defense companies from exhibiting at the prestigious Euronaval defense exhibition, scheduled for November 4-7. This marks the second instance of Macron taking action against Israeli defense firms, following their exclusion from the Eurosatory defense and security exhibition in June.

The French government has taken a harsh stand against Israel in the past year. It has even gone so far as to recognize Palestine as an independent state in June.

“French President Macron’s actions are a disgrace to the French nation and the values of the free world, which he claims to uphold,” he said in a post on X/Twitter. “France has adopted, and is consistently implementing, a hostile policy towards the Jewish people. We will continue defending our nation against enemies on 7 different fronts, and fighting for our future – with or without France.”

The Israeli embassy in Paris released a statement of condemnation of its own.

“These measures not only harm relations between our two countries, but also the bonds of trust that they have built, and thus cast doubt on France’s ability to play a leading role on the diplomatic scene to promote peace and stability in the Middle East,” it said in the statement.

EURONAVAL 2024, will last from Monday November 4 to Thursday November 7.

Created in 1968 for the French naval industry, Euronaval has gradually opened up to European and then international manufacturers, becoming the global benchmark for naval defense.  Keeping abreast of the latest geostrategic and economic developments around the world, this event is constantly evolving and adding innovative technological products to each new edition. This responsiveness enables the biennial event to present the answers to the major naval and maritime challenges of the 21st century.

For over 50 years, Euronaval’s strength has been its ability to attract the most important official delegations (government decision-makers, chiefs of staff of foreign navies). In 2022, the show welcomed 150 French and international delegations.
