Lidwave is an Israeli startup that develops 4D-LiDAR-on-chip sensors. The firm raised $10 million Seed funding round led by Jumpspeed Ventures and Next Gear Ventures.

LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) is a remote sensing method that uses light to measure distance, shape, and motion of objects. It works by emitting laser pulses and measuring the time it takes for the pulses to return after reflecting off surfaces. This data can be used to create detailed 3D maps of the environment.

LiDAR technology has become essential for a wide range of industries, enabling accurate measurements, advanced mapping, and autonomous operations. As LiDAR systems continue to improve in terms of cost, size, and performance, their applications are expected to expand further in the future.

Founded in 2021 by CEO Yehuda Vidal, CTO Yossi Kabessa (CTO) and Chief Scientist Uri Weiss, Lidwave’s deep-tech solution revolutionizes 4D sensing and the verticals relying on it by examining the biggest challenge in LiDAR technology from a new perspective, free of bandwidth limitations.

Based in Jerusalem, Lidwave is a pioneer in coherent optics and sensing, is revolutionizing perception technology with its patented Finite Coherence Ranging (FCR™) architecture. By offering unparalleled accuracy and range, FCR™ is unlocking new possibilities in industries like autonomous vehicles, robotics, and smart infrastructure.

Through strategic partnerships, Lidwave is actively driving the adoption of LiDAR technology by developing scalable solutions for mass production. Our commitment to innovation and collaboration positions us as a leading force in shaping the future of perception.

Despite recent industry shifts, LiDAR technology remains indispensable for autonomous machines. However, high costs, complexity, and reliability issues have hindered its widespread adoption. Legacy LiDAR systems, with their intricate designs and manufacturing processes, often come with hefty price tags, limiting their accessibility to a select few industries.

“This investment marks a significant milestone for Lidwave, propelling us closer to our goal of revolutionizing machine vision,” said Yehuda Vidal, Lidwave’s CEO and Co-founder. “Our 4D LiDAR chip not only sets a new standard for sensor performance but also makes advanced perception technology accessible to the mass market.”
