Americans are known for being obsessed with sex – either through promiscuity or through moral indignation for what many sees as a sinful act. But, can you guess which state is the most sexually satisfied?
A nationwide study by the mattress review website Nap Lab found that Americans rated their sex lives an average of 4.770 out of 10, with 1 being the least satisfied and 10 being the most. This score falls short of most satisfaction benchmarks. While the national average is 4.770, there is significant variation among states. Twenty-five states reported higher average satisfaction scores, while 25 states had lower averages.

Nap Lab found that, from a national standpoint, 23.6% of Americans rated their sex life a 1 out of 10. Similarly, when we recently polled Americans on how often they were having sex, a combined 21.8% reported they do not have sex at least once a month, with 5.6% reporting they never have sex at all. This suggests frequency of intercourse could be a major factor.
Only 10.6% of respondents gave their sex life a perfect score of 10 out of 10. This is significantly lower than the percentage of people who reported having sex at least once a week (45.6%) or even daily (7.8%). In fact, over half of Americans are sexually active at least once a week. While frequency might be important for some, it may not be the most relevant factor in determining overall sexual satisfaction for the majority of Americans.
So, which in which state are people having the best sex?
Believe it or not, it is Oklahoma. Apparently being a sparsely populated, little visited arid state gives people little to do but have a lot of sex.
Nap Lab found Oklahoma had the highest average score of 6.792 when rating the quality of their sex lives. Birthplace of recognizable sex symbols such as Brad Pitt and Olivia Munn, it is understandable why the state is so satisfied with their coitus. It seems the wind is not the only thing coming right behind the rain.
Now, can you guess which states came in at the bottom of the list out of the fifty?
Three states had an average sex life score below 3 out of 10: Virginia, New Mexico and Alaska. The people at Nap Labs said this is an interesting combination because the climates of these three states are wildly different.
