Some of the six Israeli hostages who were murdered by their terrorist captors in Gaza last month tried to fight back before they were killed. This is what IDF (Israeli Defense Forces) Spokesman Daniel Hagari told members of their families, according to a report made by Israel’s Channel Twelve News.

“There is evidence that some of the abductees defended themselves or fought the terrorists,” Hagari reportedly told them.

On August 31, the IDF located and recovered from an underground tunnel in the Rafah region, the bodies of six deceased Israelis who were kidnapped during the seventh of October massacre and murdered by Hamas terrorists in Gaza: Carmel Gat (40), Eden Yerushalmi (24), Hirsch Goldberg-Polin (23), Alexander Lubnov (32), Almog Sarosi (27) and IDF Sergeant Major Ori Danino (25).

Autopsies of the victims showed that all six were shot to death at close range and had multiple bullets fired directly at them.

In addition, details of the tunnel where the hostages were held were released by the IDF, including the fact that it was small and narrow, only 32 inches (80 CM) wide. This meant that the hostages had difficulty standing or walking. There were no showers, no toilets or air vents and they had difficulty breathing.

The hostages were executed by the terrorists after IDF forces approached the tunnel. Israeli forces were operating in the area and the families were told that an IDF shells hit near the tunnel.

The IDF also said that alongside the murdered hostages were four terrorists who were killed. However, no bullets were found in their bodies and the DF said that they were probably killed by IDF shelling.

The IDF, however, emphasized that these were only preliminary findings.

The hostages were held in the tunnel for several weeks before they were killed.

Israel’s Channel 13 News added that there was evidence that four of the hostages tried to protect Carmel Gat and Eden Yerushalmi.
