IZZY, the global streaming platform for Israeli content, will be the first service to stream Kathmandu, the only Israeli drama series featuring Gal Gadot, to a worldwide audience. IZZY said this marks a “significant milestone as one of Israel’s most celebrated international stars returns to her roots, offering fans a unique opportunity to see Gadot in her sole Hebrew-language TV role.”

Kathmandu, a 13-episode drama series, presents a captivating portrayal of a Chabad Hasidic family in Nepal, set against the breathtaking and remote backdrop of the Himalayan region. The show follows the emotional and spiritual journey of a young couple as they establish and operate a Chabad house in Kathmandu, providing a sanctuary for Jewish travelers. Gal Gadot’s performance, alongside an exceptional ensemble cast, shines as they navigate complex relationships and the challenges of living in a distant, culturally rich environment.

“Bringing Kathmandu to a global audience through IZZY is a game-changer,” said Nati Dinnar, Co-founder & CEO of IZZY. “Gal Gadot’s involvement in this series is a testament to the strength and quality of Israeli storytelling. It’s particularly exciting for us to introduce the world to her early work in Hebrew, offering fans a glimpse of her journey before she became a global superstar. With subtitles in English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese, we are breaking down language barriers and making this incredible series accessible to a worldwide audience.”

The series delves into their struggles and triumphs as they navigate cultural diSerences, spiritual challenges, and the complexities of community building in a foreign land.

Upon arriving in Kathmandu, Shmulik and Mushki face immediate challenges, including being detained when Shmulik is forced to break into their new home. As the story unfolds, Mushki must single-handedly organize the first Passover Seder in Kathmandu, showcasing her resilience and determination.

The series is enriched by a cast of diverse characters, including Giani (Liron Levo), a former Israeli soldier turned hostel owner with a troubled past, and Yamit (Gal Gadot), a woman on a personal quest to find her missing sister, Ofira (Keren Berger).
