Israel’s Anti-terror General Security Service – known in Israel by its Hebrew acronym “Shin Bet” – is preparing a bunker in Jerusalem for the country’s top leadership in case of an expected Iranian attack. Israeli news website “Walla” reported that the Shin Bet prepared the bunker for the Israeli leadership to use for long periods of time if needed.
Journalist Ben Caspit reported that the bunker is, “equipped and supplied with all the means of command and control, connected to the ‘pit’ (the underground military command center at the Israel Defense Forces headquarters in Tel Aviv) and to all the other war rooms, it allows for a long stay and is immune to all types of weaponry in existence.”

This all comes in the wake of the assassinations of two senior terrorist leaders in a period of less than 24 hours last week. The first killed was Fuad Shukar – also known as ” al-Hajj Mohsin ” – Hezbollah’s most senior military commander who was killed in Beirut in an air strike by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The second terror leader killed was Ismail Haniyeh, the Hamas; terror organization’s political leader. Haniyeh, who lived in hiding in Qatar, was killed in the Tehran guest complex where was staying as as he visited Iran for the swearing-in ceremony for the country’s new president Masoud Pezeshkian.
Haniyeh was killed when a small bomb planted in his room detonated. Iranian officials claimed the bomb was placed there weeks before Haniyeh’s stay.
Fuad Shukar was responsible for the rocket attack on Saturday on the Israeli-Druze town Majdal Shams in which ten children and two teens were killed.
Israeli authorities have only taken credit for the killing of Fuad Shukar, but have said nothing about the death of Ismail Haniyeh.
In April, Iran launched a massive missile and drone/UAV attack on Israel in response to the killing of one of its senior military commanders in Syria.
The US military – along with several other nations – assisted Israel in shooting down almost all of the missiles and drones before they even reached Israel air space.
Drones take time to reach Israel from Iran and so Israel had plenty of warning time.
In April Jordan shut down its air space in the 24 hour period during which the drones were launched at Israel. However, the Jordanian government is now saying, according to some reports, that it will not allow Iran to attack Israel again through its air space. And the US is leading a diplomatic effort to let the Iranian government know that there will be consequences should it attack Israel again.
In the meantime, numerous foreign airlines canceled service to Israel for the second time since the October 7 Hamas massacre due to the threat of an Iranian attack on Israel.
Nevertheless, Israelis continue to go about their business as usual with no signs of panic shopping – stocking up on supplies – or fear of taking summer vacations within the country.
