Barstool Sports owner Dave Portnoy is one person who is highly critical of President Joe Biden’s sudden announcement on Sunday that he is dropping out of the race for reelection to the presidency in 2024. Portnoy said that by waiting until after the primaries concluded the democrats are simply trying to “hijack” democracy.

In a video released on social media, Portnoy said that he believes Joe Biden was forced out and complained, “How they waited this long is insanity and they’re trying to hijack, basically, democracy.”

“It’s the right move, he shouldn’t run,” He acknowledged.” It’s not for the right reasons. Like, he has been this way for years and the Democrats have been hiding it. Then they’re like, ‘Well, he probably can’t beat Trump, so we got to get somebody else in there.’ How they waited this long, so now what? They can hand-pick basically who their replacement is going to be?”

Dave Portnoy also explained that he believes President Biden’s decision came as the result of a drawn out series of political dealings saying this was, “probably the greatest negotiation in the history of America.”

And Dave Portnoy is not too happy with the prospect that Vice President Kamala Harris will now be the Democratic nominee for president either. He thinks she had no chance of winning the nomination had there been open primaries.

“There is no way Kamala would have been the nominee if Joe Biden dropped out before the Democratic Primary and had to run vs other candidates,” Dave Portnoy Tweeted. “The people who control Joe also control Kamala and just subverted democracy with pure election fraud and theft.”

“It also doesn’t really matter if it’s Kamala, [Governor of California] Newsom, Whitmer etc.,” he added. “The point is the same. A small select group of people decided they get to handpick the Presidential candidate rather than have people vote for the candidate. It’s insane and calculated.”

Founded in 2003 in Milton, Massachusetts, Barstool Sports is a digital media company that produces content focused on sports and pop-culture. Barstool Sports began as a small blog, but it quickly grew into one of the most popular sports websites in the world. The site is known for its irreverent humor and its coverage of a wide range of topics, including sports, pop culture, and current events.

Dave Portnoy bought back Barstool Sports last August for just $1 from Penn Entertainment, which had spent a total of $551 million in acquiring it. In 2019, Penn Entertainment paid Portnoy $163 million for a 36% stake in the firm. And then earlier this year it paid another $388 million for the rest of Barstool Sports. Penn unloaded Barstool because it expected the company to lose as much as $800 million.
