Suleiman Al Amor, an Israeli Arab (36) resident of Rahat, was arrested in Athens upon his arrival, about a month and a half ago. His arrest was under an international arrest warrant issued against him by Ukraine, which was distributed globally through Interpol. Ukraine requested his extradition for smuggling 2.382 grams of cannabis in 2019.
Attorney Mordechai Tzivin, who represents Suleiman, stated that his client will not be extradited to Ukraine due to the ongoing war that puts lives at risk. Tzivin expressed surprise at Ukraine’s extradition request, which violates basic Interpol rules that prohibit extraditing individuals to places where their lives are in danger.
Tzivin believes that this response is contrary to international law and the country’s own laws, as the state has a duty to intervene when there is such a danger.

Attorney Tzivin handles international criminal law, Interpol, human rights, and unusually difficult cases, including those of Arabs from countries that do not maintain diplomatic relations with Israel. He claims that he has not witnessed any discrimination between citizens of Israel, including Arabs.
Tzivin believes that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’s decision is against international and their own rules. Tzivin questions if the Ministry’s conduct may have caused the loss of an Israeli citizen’s life. This is in contrast to Greece’s efforts to save the Israeli citizen.
