Israeli Military Cybersecurity Veteran founded Startup Entitle Acquired by BeyondTrust

Entitle, an Israeli startup founded by veterans of the Israeli military’s elite cybersecurity unit that offers a cloud permissions management platform, is being bought out by American cybersecurity company BeyondTrust. The terms of the deal have not been released, but Calcalist reported that it could be worth as much as $150 million. Entitle first came out of stealth mode in February 2023.

Cloud permissions management refers to the practices and tools used to control how users and applications access resources in a cloud environment. It’s essentially ensuring the right people and applications have the right access to data and functionalities, and no more. By implementing effective cloud permissions management, a firm can ensure the security and efficiency of your cloud operations.

BeyondTrust is a leader in intelligent identity and access security, enabling organizations to protect identities, stop threats, and deliver dynamic access. The company offers the only platform with both intelligent identity threat detection and a privilege control plane that delivers zero-trust based least privilege to “shrink your attack surface and eliminate security blind spots.”

Founded in 2021 by CEO Ron Nissim and CTO Avi Zetser – both graduates of the IDF’s vaunted cybersecurity Unit 8200 – Entitle is a cloud permissions management platform that automates how access to cloud resources is requested, granted, and managed across the organization. Entitle boasts that it eliminates bottlenecks related to manual access granting and enables dynamic, just-in-time authorization for better security, governance, and productivity.

The company boasts that security teams use Entitle to automatically grant on-call engineers access to production (break-glass protocol), revoke vendors’ access when their contract expires, limit IdP admin role to a few hours, pending peer approval, and many other uses.

Instead of governing permissions across thousands of isolated resources, Entitle provides a centralized view of all permissions that employees and contractors have or had. Every access-related action is logged including who asked for permission, to what, who signed off on it, and why, establishing governance and automating the tasks involved with demonstrating support for SOC2 and other compliance mandates.

“Entitle’s JIT Access and Cloud Permissions Management solution is an emerging leader in the Identity Security market,” says Ron Nissim, CEO of Entitle. “This acquisition allows Entitle to continue to grow through BeyondTrust’s years of expertise and dominance in the PAM market – offering significant opportunities for Entitle’s team.”
