Donald Trump does not seem to know what position he should hold when it comes to Israel’s current war against the Hamas terrorist organization Hamas in Gaza. Even when interviewed by a newspaper that is ostensibly on his side – the free Israeli daily Israel Hayom (today) – the former President had difficulty
The former President went on record last week condemning President Joe Biden for, in his view, failing to be supportive enough of Israel during the war and demanding that its forces not enter the southern Gaza city of Rafa.
But when speaking to Israel Hayom, Donald Trump said the war in Gaza has been taking too long.

“You have to finish up your war,” he told Israel. “To finish it up. You gotta get it done. And, I am sure you will do that. And we gotta get to peace, we can’t have this going on. And I will say, Israel has to be very careful, because you’re losing a lot of the world, you’re losing a lot of support, you have to finish up, you have to get the job done. And you have to get on to peace, to get on to a normal life for Israel, and for everybody else.”
So, Donald Trump is suddenly worried about what the rest of the world thinks? As president Trump made it clear he did not.
When asked about Israel’s response to the October 7 massacre he said, “I would say I would act very much the same way as you did. You would have to be crazy not to. Only a fool would not do that. That was a horrible attack.”
But Donald Trump went on to blame Israel for the increase in anti-Semitic incidents around the world since then, saying this happened in response to Israel’s attacks in Gaza, saying “I think Israel made a very big mistake.”
“I wanted to call [Israel] and say don’t do it,” Donald Trump told the paper. “These photos and shots. I mean, moving shots of bombs being dropped into buildings in Gaza. And I said, Oh, that’s a terrible portrait. It’s a very bad picture for the world. The world is seeing this…every night, I would watch buildings pour down on people.”
Israel Hayom is owned by the Adelson family and was established by the late casino magnate Sheldon Adelson. Both Adelson, and his widow Miriam Adelson, were big supporters of Donald Trump and they have also supported Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the years. Many in Israel see their free newspaper as really being free promotion for Netanyahu.
