Super Bowl LVIII (48) is upon us. The 2024 Super Bowl will be played today in Las Vegas at Allegiant Stadium between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers. While neither team’s owner is Jewish (we checked,) Jewish celebrities will be taking part in the Super Bowl television commercials.
The Super Bowl commercials will cost $7 million per 30 seconds this year. Over the years they have been known to be more entertaining than most of the actual games. This is because they are so important as a venture for advertisement that the various firms work very hard to ensure that they will be entertaining and memorable. And these days the ads get released online ahead of the big game, that’s how popular they are.
The slate of ads for Super Bowl LVIII continue in the tradition. And three Jewish stars – Scarlet Johansson, Zach Braff and David Schwimmer – all make appearances.

David Schwimmer reunited with his Friends co-star Jennifer Aniston in a commercial for Uber Eats. It opens with Aniston learning for the first time about and says one forgets something old for every new thing learned. She keeps forgetting things as she learns knew ones until David Schwimmer appears and she can’t remember who he is.
Zach Braff, the movie director and star of the longtime hit sitcom “Scrubs,” returns for another T Mobile ad in which he again reunites with former co-star and BFF in real life Donald Faison.
Finally, Scarlet Johansson makes a cameo at the end of a Super Bowl commercial for M&M’s. The actress pokes fun at herself and her two Oscar losses – in the same year.
In addition, New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft’s nonprofit Foundation to Combat Antisemitism (FCAS) will an ad of its own as part of the foundation’s “Stand Up to Jewish Hate” campaign. While the Foundation was established well before the barbaric Hamas attack of October 7, 2023, it is all the more significant in the wake of hatred spewed against Israel on American college campuses since the massacre.
“With the horrific rise in Jewish hate and all hate across our nation, we must stand up and take urgent action now,” said Robert Kraft in a statement released ahead of the commercial’s airing.
“For the first time, FCAS will air an emotive ad during the Super Bowl, football’s ultimate championship game which brings people of all backgrounds together, to showcase examples of how people can Stand Up to Jewish Hate and inspire more people to join the fight against all hate.”
So, now you can enjoy the big game, or not. Super Bowl 38 airs worldwide starting at 6:PM US Eastern Standard Time.
