If you drink four cups of coffee per day you can burn off some of your body fat. This is what researchers at Harvard have determined.
People love their coffee. From Starbucks to the local mom and pop run coffee shops, people everywhere just have to have their lattes and espressos. But the debate still rages as to whether or not coffee is good or bad for you.

And even if coffee has health benefits, how much is too much?
The Harvard scientists found that drinking four cups of coffee daily could reduce body fat by about 4%. This was determined in a recent study by Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health researchers. The finding comes from a 24-week investigation in which 126 overweight, non-insulin sensitive adults drank daily either four cups of regular coffee or four cups of a coffee-like placebo beverage. The study was designed to determine if coffee consumption reduces the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
“Previous observational studies have linked drinking coffee with a lower risk of type 2 diabetes,” explained the researchers, “yet coffee’s effects on blood sugar metabolism have not been well defined. In the current study, coffee did not affect the study participants’ sensitivity to insulin – the hormone that regulates sugar levels in the blood. The study did yield an unexpected result: Drinking coffee was associated with a modest loss of body fat.”
Bu remember, this is just about the coffee and coffee alone.
If you add any milk or sugar – especially sugar – to your coffee then you may be negating any beneficial effects.
And it does not stop there. Many people love to drink those Frappuccinos, Moccacinos and all manner of sweet coffee based drinks.
One thing that people should do is check the ingredients any those ice coffees for sale in stores everywhere. See if there is any added sugar and always check the calorie count.
And, of course, coffee alone will not help you lose weight. Diet and exercise are what is needed.
