Avi Loeb is at it again. The Israeli scientist is now dismissing the absurd reports of sightings of alien spaceships in the Earth’s atmosphere. Or, at least, Loeb dismissed the idea that an alien spacecraft would have any actual living aliens aboard. Meanwhile, Loeb also entered the political fray, decrying the mixing of politics and academia, especially regarding the explosion of anti-Israel and anti-Semitic protests at America’s elite universities like Harvard since the start of Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza.
“It would take about a billion years to cross from one side of the Milky Way galaxy to the other,” the Harvard astrophysicist told GB News this week. “Given that, I don’t think any spacecraft that would arrive to us from another star would carry biological creatures.”
Space has a lot of dangerous particles floating around in it too. So, Loeb also said of aliens, “They wouldn’t survive the journey being bombarded by very energetic particles in interstellar space for so long.”

“It’s more likely, if they are autonomous, they have an artificial brain, artificial intelligence,” he added. “We have already developed that on Earth, we haven’t launched it to space, but that would be the next step.”
As for politics, Avi Loeb published an essay in the publication medium in which he lamented the politicization of American universities. The Harvard professor’s comments came after the school’s President Claudine Gay was ousted from her job because she failed to condemn pro-Hamas activities on Harvard’s campus.
“As any other member of the Harvard community, I am deeply concerned about maintaining Harvard’s commitment to excellence in scholarship as well as academic freedom despite the recent turmoil,” he wrote.
“Harvard’s intellectual bubble was doomed to explode when confronted with the political stress after October 7,” said Avi Loeb. “The key question is how to make the future better. Harvard’s Corporation is not subjected to oversight and it is unclear whether it contains the feedback loop that would allow it to adequately correct the course.”
Loeb went on to criticize his school’s administration for being too political writing, “Coloring the education and research mission of a university by a political agenda makes it vulnerable to attacks from those who do not share this agenda.”
Avi Loeb is the Frank B. Baird, Jr., Professor of Science at Harvard University. He received a Ph.D. in Physics from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in Israel at age 24.
In 2021, Avi Loeb began what he described as a newly organized Galileo Project. The new Galileo Project uses a three-pronged approach to replace unreliable eyewitness reports about UFO sightings with reproducible scientific observations. Writing in “Scientific American” Professor Loeb compared his process to that of a court of law dismissing any hearsay and only admitting facts that can be proved as evidence.
Avi Loeb believes that we have already been visited by aliens but they did not land on Earth. He says that we were visited by some sort of extraterrestrial device in 2017. In his book “Extraterrestrial: The First Sign of Intelligent Life Beyond Earth,” Professor Loeb explains that the Oumuamua object that passed through our solar system was not just a giant piece of space rock, but some sort of alien spaceship.
