16 Jews Made the Forbes List of 50 Richest People in the World 2023

Forbes released its end-of-year lists of the wealthiest people in the world in various categories, such as country or industry. Out of the 50 richest people overall worldwide, 16 were Jews, or 32%.

Coming in at number four on the list overall, the world’s richest Jew is Larry Ellison with an estimated net worth of $107 billion. The 78-year-old American entrepreneur made his fortune with the Oracle computer company he founded.

The second wealthiest Jew in the world and seventh richest overall is Michael Bloomberg, the former three-term mayor of New York City. The 81-year-old is worth an estimated $94.5 billion. He made his money in media & entertainment by co-founding the financial information and media company Bloomberg LP in 1981.

The tenth wealthiest person in the world is Microsoft co-founder Steve Ballmer, whose mother was Jewish. At 67, he has an estimated net worth of $80.7 billion.

Francoise Bettencourt Meyers & family came in at number 11 overall with a net worth of $80.5 billion. The 70-year-old French businesswoman is a convert to Judaism, the granddaughter of the founder of L’Oreal, and the richest woman in the world.

At number 12 on the list is Larry Page, the co-founder of Google. At v50, he has a net worth of $79.2 billion.

At number 14 on the Forbes list is another co-founder of Google, Sergey Brin. The 49-year-old was born into a Jewish family in Russia and is currently an American. His net worth is $76 billion.

Mark Zuckerberg came in at number 16 overall. The 38-year-old is worth $64.4 billion.

Computer company founder Michael Dell is 23rd on the list, with a net worth of $50.1 billion. He founded Dell Technologies.

Miriam Adelson & family are 35 on the list, having inherited their fortune from her late husband, casino mogul Sheldon Adelson. At 77 years of age, she is worth an estimated $35 billion.

Len Blavatnik, the founder of Access Industries, came in at 40 on the Forbes list with an estimated net worth of $32.1 billion.

Alain and Gerard Wertheimer tied at number 41, each with a net worth of $31.6 billion. They own the French luxury brand Chanel.

Israeli born Rafaela Aponte-Diamant came in at number 43 with a net worth of $31.2 billion. The 78-year-old made her money in shipping.

At number 48 on the list is Jeff Yass, worth an estimated $28.5 billion. The 64-year-old is a cofounder of Susquehanna International Group, one of Wall Street’s largest and most successful trading firms.

The 16th wealthiest Jew in the world and the 49th wealthiest overall is Jim Simons with a net worth of $28.1 billion. The 84-year-old is the founder of Renaissance Technologies, a hedge fund firm that manages about $50 billion.

Finally, Stephen Schwarzman came in at 50th on the list with a net worth of $27.8 billion. Stephen Schwarzman founded private equity firm Blackstone with fellow billionaire Peter Peterson in 1985.
