Roseanne Barr is at it again. She continued to make insensitive and, quite frankly, insane comments. This time Barr did so in a one-on-one interview with Bill Maher on his Club Random podcast.
Bill Maher is himself well known for being “politically correct” and even named his 1990’s talk show by that expression. But Maher knows where to draw the line and has himself needed to apologize for certain comments that he made in the past.
But Bill Maher also likes to give people second chances and to allow controversial figures an opportunity to explain themselves. This was evidenced when, in a recent installment of his “Real Time” show on HBO, Maher interviewed the disgraced former governor of New York Andrew Cuomo. But Cuomo spoke rationally and made a serious case in his own defense about charges made against him concerning sexual assault.

Roseanne Barr unfortunately – or fortunately depending on how you look at it – is seemingly biologically incapable of behaving in such a way.
So, what did Roseanne Barr say?
At one point she claimed that Jews were “inbred,” saying, “I believe that something affects you after thousands of years of inbreeding. … That DNA thing is different from other humans, except the Jews, which also inbreed.”
Bill Maher told Roseanne Barr that she has “more balls than anybody,” to which Barr replied, “That’s because I’m a trans man, and people don’t know that.”
At another point in the interview Maher described her as a “socialist Nazi.”
To this Roseanne Barr declared, “I’m not a Nazi,” and then changed the subject entirely asking Maher, “Remember when me and youse got in a fistfight at the Playboy Mansion?”
Roseanne Barr did try to say something serious about herself when, at one point, she said, “At least half of my life, nobody gets what I’m saying—if it’s a joke, or serious, or what.”
“If you can’t take a joke, fuck you, you fascist,” she said to all of the people who have condemned her in the past. “That’s how I feel, Bill. And you know what, I don’t give a fuck what color your ass is. If you ain’t doing right for your own people or anybody in this country where people are sleeping in the streets and it makes me fucking sick, then fuck you.”
Roseanne Barr’s son Jake Pentland tried to defend her releasing a statement saying, “My mother is a comedian. Back in the old days comedians would tell things called ‘jokes’. And people would here these jokes and laugh and people would move on with their lives without outrage.”
Sorry Jake, but a joke can still be racist, inappropriate and even unforgiveable no matter how funny it may be. And considering her previous issues your mother should try being more careful in choosing her words.
Pentland also tried to lay the blame for his mother woes on the press, as if the media is misrepresenting what Roseanne Barr has said over the years.
He said that once upon a time journalists would only concern themselves with “real issues” and only work on “real stories” and not only work on “clickbait” just so they can pay for their “expensive latte addiction.”
Uhm’… clickbait is when the story is not really about what the headline implied or if it’s just more pictures of celebrities in bikinis. Sorry Jake, but your mother only has herself to blame for being in this mess.
Last summer, Roseanne Barr said in an interview, “nobody died in the Holocaust, either. That’s the truth. It should happen. Six million Jews should die right now ’cause they cause all the problems in the world. But it never happened. But it never happened — mandated.”
