The 13 expected to be freed Friday are the first of 50 hostages to be released over the four day period – all women and young children.

The government of Israel informed the families of the hostages expected to be released today, but their names will not be publicized until after they are home.

Israel has made arrangements for the care of the hostages upon their release.

Its Ministry of Welfare and Social Security is prepared to receive the Israelis who are expected to return from Hamas captivity and published a procedure for social workers regarding the process of their reception.

They will undergo a number of physical tests at hospitals and, in accordance with the procedure of the Ministry of Health, a social worker from the welfare agency will accompany the released and coordinate their treatment in the short and long term, and will serve as the generalist of the treatment in front of all the relevant ministries and government agencies.

According to the procedure, from the moment an abductee returns to his home, the social workers will work to assess the needs of the returnees and their family members, in collaboration with the social services department at their place of residence.
