Massive Rally for Israel Held in Washington

More than 300,000 people Tuesday crammed the Mall in front of the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C. for a demonstration in support of Israel. The people came from all over the country, with some even flying into the American capitol just for the event.

The rally was held in response to a month-long campaign of attacks against Israel, including lies and false analogies.

Israel is not committing war crimes in Gaza and the exaggerated reports of the number of those killed in its attacks all come from Hamas itself. Unfortunately, the international media acts as if this is all true while claiming that they are being impartial.

Even non-Jewish politicians, whose districts do not even have very many Jews in them, attended the rally and spoke out against how Israel is being treated.

Congressman Hakeem Jeffries from Brooklyn, NY, and the leader of the House Democrats, voiced his strong support for Israel at the rally.

“The Jewish people were violently expelled from the Middle East. The Jewish people were systematically murdered by the Nazi regime. The Jewish people were violently attacked by Hamas on October 7, resulting in the largest loss of Jewish life in a single day since the Holocaust,” Jeffries told those gathered.

“So we are here more than 100,000 people strong to unequivocally declare never again.”

US Congressman Rep. Ritchie Torres, a Democrat who represents the Bronx in New York City and is black, also addressed the rally.

Torres spoke against the calls for Israel to enter into at least some sort of cease-fire so that more humanitarian aid can get through to the people in Gaza and agreed with Israel’s government that any cease-fire would only help Hamas.

“I want to be crystal clear: A ceasefire with a terrorist organization is not a peace agreement. It’s a death sentence for Israelis,” he said Torres. “Everyone who wants Israel to cease to exist is calling for a ceasefire. Our answer to them is ‘No!’”

He went on to call the attack enacted by Hamas on October 7 a “crime against the Jewish state, indeed against humanity, so barbaric it cannot be ignored.”

Senator John Fetterman, Democrat from Pennsylvania, also attended the rally and he was draped in an Israeli flag.

The Senator displayed the posters of the innocent Israelis kidnapped by Hamas in his office and said “Israel and Ukraine are going through existential threats. We need to send aid to BOTH, and my Republican colleagues need to cut the crap. This isn’t a game. “

Rabbi Lester Bronstein of Congregation Beit Am Shalom in White Plains New York led his entire community down to Washington for the rally.

“I was grateful not to hear Jewish calls for blood,” he said. “I heard strong Jewish calls for justice for Israel, for calling out antisemitism and all human hatred, and even for compassion toward Hamas’s other victims, the people of Gaza.”

Meanwhile, in an interesting development, CNN seems to be waking up to the problem of biased coverage of Israel and some of its correspondents have been more open with their acknowledgments that the numbers coming out of Gaza are not reliable.

Anderson Cooper, possibly CNN’s most famous current broadcaster, has even begun to criticize Hamas and to speak openly about the atrocities it commits even against its own people. On his program Tuesday night, for example, he spoke openly of Hamas’ barbarism, telling a story of how the terrorist group drags people chained to motorcycles along the streets.

A number of times during the program Anderson Cooper also mentioned how Hamas spent money building bunkers to protect itself, but not one dime on bomb shelters for all of the civilians in Gaza.
