Throat cancer, technically either Laryngeal or Hypopharyngeal Cancer, could be caused by oral sex, specifically cunnilingus. This is what a TikTok doctor named Dr. Daria Sadovskaya said. Dr. Sadovskaya apparently is of the belief that Human papillomavirus (HPV), which has been linked to some forms of cancer, can be spread through male on female oral sex.
“Don’t get scared by it, be aware and know how to protect your health and wellness.”
But then again, it is kind of hard to take a doctor seriously when she makes medical claims on TikTok videos that last just a few seconds, uses dubbed in vocals and rock music in the background.

But is there any real truth to this “urban legend” which has been around for a long time?
Well, at least that is what the Oscar winning actor Michael Douglas said when he contracted the illness back in 2013.
According to the American Cancer Society, Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a group of over 150 related viruses. They are called papillomaviruses because some of them cause a type of growth called a papilloma, also known as a wart.
The society does acknowledge that certain types of HPV can also cause some forms of cancer, including cancers of the penis, cervix, vulva, vagina, anus, and throat. Other types of HPV cause benign (not cancer) warts in different parts of the body.
The rate of head and neck cancers related to HPV infection have been rising mainly for cancers of the throat (oropharynx), it said, but also pointed out that HPV infection is a rare risk factor for cancers of the larynx and hypopharynx.
The society still lists tobacco products as the leading culprits for these forms of cancer.
