Richmond California is a small city that has actually passed an official resolution condemning Israel for its reaction to the barbaric attacks by the Hamas terrorist group in which entire families, including babies, were burned alive. At the same time, the Scarsdale New York Schools canceled a fundraising event for the UN’s education organization UNICEF due to how that organization responded to the Hamas attacks.
The decision to cancel the UNICEF fundraiser was based on a decidedly one-sided statement that the organization made after the Hamas massacre in Israel on October 7.
Jonathan Blake, senior rabbi at Westchester Reform Temple in Scarsdale, told the local Journal News that the UNICEF statement, “didn’t mention Hamas’ initial attack that killed 1,400 Israelis, or the kidnapping of over 200 Israelis.”

“It draws moral equivalencies between Israel’s defensive response in war and the unprovoked attack by Hamas,” he added.
As for Richmond California, a city of 115 thousand people located northeast of San Francisco,
“currently facing a campaign of ethnic cleansing and collective punishment by the state of Israel.”
The resolution also calls for an “end to Israeli apartheid and the occupation and blockade of Palestinian land by Israeli military forces.”
So, this is not just about what is happening in Gaza, the City of Richmond does not want Israel to even exist.
The city Council of Richmond also said that it opposes all “existing and future military aid to Israel.”
It also accused Israel of engaging in an “ethnic cleansing campaign by explicitly requiring 2 million Palestinians to leave Gaza immediately or risk being bombed in their homes by the Israeli army.”
Perhaps they needed a dictionary before holding the vote. “Ethnic Cleansing” refers to forcing an entire ethnic group of people to leave a certain region. This is clearly not the case with Gaza, which Israel pulled out of lock, stock and barrel in 2005. It was also a term coined for how the Serbs in the former Yugoslavia slaughtered countless people of other nationalities in Bosnia in the 1990s. So, accusing Israel of this is to claim that Israel is engaged in a genocide.
The clueless Mayor of Richmond, Eduardo Martinez denied that anything the city council had done was anti-Israel or a move against the Jewish People.
But Jewish residents weren’t buying it.
“I’m a Richmond resident and of Jewish heritage. I totally oppose this resolution because it is full of lies that will only incentivize the Hamas Nazi terrorists and their supporters and add to the suffering of the poor Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank for decades,” one Richmond resident said told Fox News.
