Israel Rated One of the Worst Nations for Energy Sustainability

Israel ranked way down on Utility Bidder’s list of countries in sustainability.

Israel may be known for its green technology breakthroughs and advances in alternative energies, in addition to its remarkable success rate in the high-tech sector. But, unfortunately, the startups of Startup Nation do not combine these things. A new survey rated Israel as the ninth worst OECD country in the world when it comes to sustainable – as in green friendly – business startups. This is according to research compiled by Utility Bidder.

The worst country on the list was Mexico, and Israel ranked only just behind the U.S.

Switzerland came in at number one, followed by the UK and Sweden.

Israel had a sustainability (environmentally responsible) rate of just 4.1 out of 10. (The U.S. score was 4.36 and Mexico’s was 2.) For comparison, Switzerland’s score was 7.81 and the UK’s was 7.08.

So, what now?

There are many ways for businesses to become more sustainable, and many of these practices can also help to save money. Some examples of sustainable business practices include making simple changes, such as turning off lights and appliances when they are not in use, or investing in energy-efficient equipment.

Businesses can also switch to renewable energy providers, such as solar or wind power and reduce waste by recycling, composting, and donating unwanted materials. This can help to save money and reduce environmental impact.

Businesses can also support sustainable causes by donating to environmental organizations or volunteering their time. This can help to make a difference in the world and build goodwill with customers and the community.

In addition to these benefits, sustainable businesses can also attract and retain top talent. Employees are increasingly looking to work for companies that are committed to social and environmental responsibility. Sustainable businesses can also command higher prices for their products and services from customers who are willing to pay a premium for sustainable products and services.

Overall, there are many compelling reasons for businesses to become more sustainable. It is good for the environment, good for business, and good for employees.

Utility Bidder was established in 2009 by James Longley who saw a gap in the market for an effective hard working and transparent service to find the best utility tariffs for business. Originally known as Business Energy Consultants, the business has gone from strength to strength, building on values of unrivalled customer service, alongside a determination to offer above-and-beyond value to our clients and suppliers.

Utility Bidder states that in the 21st century, sustainability is one of the most important considerations for businesses, economies and governments, as climate change and resource depletion are set to put intense pressure on global supply lines in the coming decades.
