As President Joe Biden made a historic visit to Israel Wednesday – the first time an American President visited the country in time of war – the US Treasury Department moved to bring new sanctions against those who aid in the financing of the Hamas terrorist organization’s barbaric activities. Meanwhile, after meeting with the President, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agreed to allow some humanitarian aid into Gaza, but only through the Egyptian border crossings on the southern end of the Gaza Strip.
In a stern message, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) stated that Israel would allow no aid to be sent into Gaza through Israeli territory as long as any Israelis are still held hostage in Gaza.
But, the PMO said that, in light of President Biden’s demand, Israel will not do anything to prevent humanitarian supplies sent through Egypt from reaching Gaza, provided that this only included food, water and medicine for the civilian population located in the southern Gaza Strip, as well as for people moving there from the northern end. Israel also insists that steps are taken to ensure that these supplies do not reach Hamas.

At this time, the IDF confirmed that the families of 203 Israeli citizens held hostage in Gaza by Hamas have been informed.
Israel also demanded that the Red Cross be allowed to visit the Israeli hostages.
As for America’s latest action against Hamas money enablers, the US Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) said it has imposed sanctions on ten “key Hamas terrorist group members, operatives, and financial facilitator” in Gaza and elsewhere including Sudan, Türkiye, Algeria, and Qatar.
The Treasury said this action was part of a “continuous effort by the United States to root out Hamas’s sources of revenue in the West Bank and Gaza and across the region and is taken in close coordination with regional partners and allies.” To date, the US Treasury has targeted nearly 1,000 individuals and entities connected to terrorism and terrorist financing by the Iranian regime and its proxies, including Hamas, Hezbollah, and other Iran-aligned terrorist groups in the region.
“The United States is taking swift and decisive action to target Hamas’s financiers and facilitators following its brutal and unconscionable massacre of Israeli civilians, including children,” said Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen. “The U.S. Treasury has a long history of effectively disrupting terror finance and we will not hesitate to use our tools against Hamas. We will continue to take all steps necessary to deny Hamas terrorists the ability to raise and use funds to carry out atrocities and terrorize the people of Israel. That includes by imposing sanctions and coordinating with allies and partners to track, freeze, and seize any Hamas-related assets in their jurisdictions.”
