After the surprise attack launched by the Hamas terrorist group from its bases in Gaza on Saturday morning in which terrorists murdered civilians in their homes, world leaders have come out overwhelmingly in support of Israel.
American, British, French, and other leaders of nations did not simply express their sympathy and support after the attacks which have thus far taken the lives of more than 300 Israeli civilians and more than 60 IDF soldiers and civil police officers.
The leaders all took the unprecedented step of announcing their support for Israel and for its taking whatever response necessary in answer to the attacks.

But what was more telling was what they did not say. These leaders did not “qualify” their remarks of support with calls for restraint on both sides or for a “measured” response by Israel, which is the standard diplomatic speak used at such times to mean that Israel needed to limit its response.
After the world saw images of terrorists shooting people in the streets of towns, attacking and carrying away as hostages innocent civilians, the dead bodies of murdered civilians paraded through the streets of Gaza – images released by Hamas itself – people were disgusted and outraged at the depravity exhibited by the terrorists who murdered whole families hiding in their homes.
The American government typically supports Israel at times like these. But Saturday President Joe Biden issued a statement stronger than any US President has made after such a Hamas attack.
“Let there be no mistake: the United States stands with the State of Israel,” he declared.
“Let me say this as clearly as I can,” added Biden. “This is not a moment for any party hostile to Israel to exploit these attacks to seek advantage. My Administration’s support for Israel’s security is rock solid and unwavering.”
But the American government, this time, was not alone.
The British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak released a statement saying, “As the barbarity of today’s atrocities becomes clearer, we stand unequivocally with Israel.”
“This attack by Hamas is cowardly and depraved,” he declared.
The British Foreign Minister James Cleverly stated, “Hamas are not ‘fighters.’ Hamas are not ‘militants.’ Hamas are terrorists. There is no other word to describe the brutality of firing rockets or terrorist attacks targeting civilians.”
Germany’s Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock stated, “Hamas escalates violence. I strongly condemn the terrorist attacks from Gaza against Israel. Violence and rockets against innocent people must stop immediately. Israel has our full solidarity and the right under international law to defend itself against terror.”
Even the President of France Emmanuel Macron took a harsh line against Hamas, issuing a statement saying, “I condemn the attacks carried out from Gaza on Israel, its soldiers and its people.”
“France stands in solidarity with Israel and the Israelis, committed to their security and their right to defend themselves,” he declared.
Again, there were no calls for restraint.
