Dronery, an Israeli startup that develops drones, or unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) was central to the third test of UAV/Drone taxi tech in the country being carried out by the Israel National Drone Initiative (INDI). Last week its drone flew over Jerusalem as part of a test conducted at Hadassah Hospital.

INDI is a 60 million Shekel ($16 million) two-year government-led pilot project.

Israel Startup Nation is moving forward in the field of Drone tech development. For example, in June Percepto, an Israeli startup that develops new drone tech using AI technologies, raised $67 million.

Founded in 2022, Dronery is a provider of autonomous drone delivery and transportation and air-taxi services in urban areas. The firm says that it was founded with the goal of revolutionizing the way packages and goods are delivered and transported, using advanced technology and innovative approaches to get items to their destination quickly, efficiently, and cost-effectively. With its fleet of drones and Command and Control systems, Dronery boasts that it is able to navigate through urban environments to deliver packages to hard-to-reach locations.

Dronery is a subsidiary of Cando Drones, an aviation company that establishes and manages autonomous drone systems.

Israel’s shopping market mogul Romi Levi sees drones as the future for grocery deliveries. “Our vision for joint operations with Cando Drones is to create a system for operating an autonomous drone fleet for the purposes of security and delivery, from the stage of customer order up to delivery and mission completion—all of this in order to provide a solution to the needs that our progress brings,” said Levi in a statement.

In June, Israel’s National Air Drone Initiative conducted the first air taxi takeoff and landing test ever held in Israel. It did so with the eVTOL (Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing), an autonomous aircraft that can carry passengers and heavy cargo is expected to serve as public transportation in the aerial dimension. Dronery, a subsidiary of Cando Drones, operated the EH-216S model manufactured by EHANG, while AIR flew the AIR ZERO model that is designed and manufactured in Israel.

Over the next two years, the participating companies in the National Drone Initiative will continue to conduct flights throughout the country for one week each month. The flights will take place in a controlled airspace, throughout Israel covering long distances of up to 150 kilometers, while carrying heavier payloads, including, in the future, drones that will be able to carry people from one location to another. The initiative operates in collaboration with additional commercial and public entities such as the Israeli Air Force, Israel Airports Authority Ltd., local municipalities, and other relevant entities. Ayalon Highways will continue to serve as the pilot site for conducting the demonstrations and will provide the companies with space in its metropolitan control and monitoring center.
