DraftKings Inc., a digital sports entertainment and gaming company, entered into a new deal with the Kentucky based firm ECL Corbin. DraftKings says the deal gives it access to operate mobile sports betting in the Bluegrass State pending licensure and regulatory approvals. In addition to offering mobile sports betting, DraftKings and Corbin will open retail sportsbooks at Corbin properties as well.
Also, Golden Nugget Online Gaming launched its online and mobile casino in Pennsylvania. The world of sports betting in America has exploded since a Supreme Court ruling a few years ago struck down a Federal law that prohibited it. Before that ruling, sports gambling was only legal in Nevada, except for certain types of events like horse racing and then any cross-state bets were prohibited.
Today, betting on sports is basically allowed nationwide, with all sorts of apps letting people place bets with their fingertips. Once unthinkable, professional sports leagues now accept advertising and sponsorships from gambling businesses such as DraftKings.
“Together with the Corbin properties, we’re excited to bring our premier sports betting experience to yet another state and its sports fans,” said Matt Kalish, President of DraftKings North America, about the company’s new deal. “We want to thank the Kentucky General Assembly for passing legislation and Governor Andy Beshear for his support of sports wagering as we look forward to launching our sportsbook product during a busy football season, pending licensure and regulatory approvals.”
On the Golden Nugget deal Matt Kalish said, “We’re thrilled to announce that Golden Nugget Online Gaming’s mobile casino is now available to customers in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The app is powered by our leading technology, which dynamically brings hundreds of popular casino games and exclusive content to our customers’ fingertips. Pennsylvanians will be able to enjoy superior customer service, rewarding promotions, and a smooth interface while playing on Golden Nugget Online Gaming.”
