Mark Zuckerberg Goes Head to Head with Elon Musk with Threads

Mark Zuckerberg is ready for his head-to-head battle with Twitter and Tesla owner Elon Musk. No, not that one – the one in a fighting cage. Zuckerberg’s Facebook is set to launch its new messaging service called “Threads.”

Threads is set to debut on Thursday, July 6. Meta/Facebook hopes the new service will successfully convert its Instagram users. Instagram itself has been having problems due to scandals over how the company ignored information that showed the service had harmful psychological effects on users, especially young girls.

Instagram tried to make itself more for messaging and not just for posting pictures. It also added new features like a “sunset” option that removes posts automatically after a set period of time.

And competition from the video-centered service TikTok forced Instagram to add videos. But younger generations get bored easily and what was the biggest thing yesterday is already out today. So, it is hard for asocial media platform like Instagram to make a comeback after it already lost its luster.

As for competing with Twitter. Facebook may just be thinking that the time is ripe to take the biggest messaging service in the world. Since Elon Musk bought the firm a few years ago it has been having a number of problems and may also be on its way out. However, the technology keeps on changing so rapidly that Facebook may have already missed its chance to introduce a Twitter competitor.

On the app’s page in Apple’s the App Store Meta/Facebook declares, “Threads is where communities come together to discuss everything from the topics you care about today to what’ll be trending tomorrow.”

“Whatever it is you’re interested in, you can follow and connect directly with your favorite creators and others who love the same things – or build a loyal following of your own to share your ideas, opinions and creativity with the world.”

So, maybe Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk will be satisfied knocking heads with their new competition between Threads and Twitter and call off their actual one on one fight.

A few weeks ago the two self-made billionaires challenged one another to a duel of sorts, fighting in a “cage match” in ultimate fighting style. Maybe they will find a way to have Twitter and Threads fight each other instead.
