Tom Nides, the US Ambassador to the State of Israel, is planning on stepping down from that post sometime this summer, this according to a report on the political news website Axios. Nides reportedly told the US Secretary of State about his decision when visiting Washington last week and told Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Tuesday morning.
A spokesperson for the US Embassy confirmed the news about Tom Nides leaving telling Axios, “It’s true that Ambassador Nides met with his senior staff this morning to inform them of his intent to step down this summer.”
“Tom has worked with characteristic energy and skill to further strengthen the special bond between the United States and Israel, and to advance U.S. diplomatic, economic, and security interests,” US Secretary of State Antony Blinken told Axios.
