Ezra Miller’s new “The Flash” moving is coming out soon and the critics are already raving about it. But many are critical due to Miller’s recent legal troubles, including allegations of abuse and even kidnapping. But the movie’s brother and sister director-producer team are pleased with the actor’s work.
Last summer Ezra Miller released a statement about his personal struggles. “Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment,” Miller said. “I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior. I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life.”
The Flash director Andy Muschietti told the press, “We’re all hoping that they (Ezra Miller who uses they/them pronouns) get better. They’re taking the steps to recovery,” he added of the actor. They’re dealing with mental health issues, but they’re well. We talked to them not too long ago, and they’re very committed to getting better.”

“And, I have to say, during our shoot, during principal photography, their commitment to the role was something we’ve never seen,” producer Barbara Muschietti said. “And the discipline to the work, the willingness — physical, mental, and just wanting to go beyond the pale — is just amazing.”
The Flash Collider editor-in-chief Steven Weintraub tweeted, “I know Ezra Miller has made a lot of mistakes but they are soooooo good in this movie. Loved [Michael] Keaton, the action, humor and emotion. Andy Muschietti has crafted something special. Thumbs way up.”
writer Kayleigh Donaldson said, ““A colleague once asked me if Warner Bros. was going to struggle with its Ezra Miller redemption tour for The Flash and I said no because there are too many people in our field who will willingly aid the propaganda for a poster quote and goodie bag.”
Last August, Ezra Miller was arrested in Vermont and charged with felony burglary over the theft of several bottles of liquor from a private home. Just like in the movies, his story keeps getting sequels.
Ezra Miller allegedly took the alcohol from the home when the owners were away. They filed a police report and surveillance videos reportedly showed enough evidence to charge Miller with the crime. At the time he pled not guilty to one count of burglary and one count of petty larceny in Vermont Superior Court and accepted the court-imposed conditions of not contacting or entering the home of the inhabitants.
Ezra Matthew Miller was born in New Jersey to a Jewish father and a Christian mother and identifies as a spiritual Jew. He began learning opera at the age of six and sang with the Metropolitan Opera. The actor identifies as non-binary – not being either male or female – and has never been married.
Ezra Miller has been accused of grooming and “brainwashing” an underage girl and then “kidnapping” her when she came of age, as well as leading his own personal cult. He was also accused of assaulting a woman in Berlin in February 2022. And a Massachusetts family received a restraining order against Ezra Miller who they say had an inappropriate relationship with their then 11-year-old son who is now 12.
