Israel’s Rafael Advanced Defense Systems signed a $400 million deal to provide its naval, air and land-based “Spike” missiles to the Greek military. Director General of the Israel Ministry of Defense, Maj. Gen. (Res.) Eyal Zamir and the Greek Director of the General Directorate for Defense Investments and Armaments, Vice Admiral (rtd) Aristeidis Alexopulos signed the deal which was led by SIBAT, the IMoD’s International Defense Cooperation Directorate.
So, even as Israel is embroiled in domestic political turmoil, with its highways and main streets blocked by anti-government protestors and even local business leaders taking money out of the country to protest the government, Israel is still able to make major international business deals. And, of course, these deals come in the defense sector as Israeli firms like Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, Israel Aircraft Industries, Elbit and others remain at the forefront of defense development.
The Spike anti-tank guided missiles manufactured by “Rafael” are innovative and precise electro-optical missiles that incorporate advanced technology. The Spike missiles can be launched from around 45 platforms from land, air, and sea. Some 40 countries around the world use the Spike missiles, including 19 EU countries and NATO allies. More than 34,000 missiles from the Spike family have already been delivered to various countries around the world and more than 6,000 of them have been launched, both during training as well as for operational use.
