Billionaire Mark Cuban thinks that A.I. tools like ChatGPT could help businesses rake in money. The owner of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks also opened up in an interview with Bill Maher about when he was broke and once “stole” a car.
Mark Cuban was very candid about what his life was like before making it big when appearing on Bill Maher’s Club Random Podcast. For example, in order to save money he would go to supermarkets in the middle of the night in order to take advantage on the discounts offered on older foods.
“I used to go to the grocery store at midnight because they lowered the price of chicken and these big [bags of] French fries to $1.29,” Mark Cuban told Bill Maher. “And I would buy a bunch of them.”

Cuban also once “stole” a car, so to speak.
Mark Cuban told Maher that he and some friends once found an unlocked car and that the owner had left behind a thick envelope full of loan papers on the front seat.
“It wasn’t f—ed up,” Cuban said of the car, “I knew from my own personal experience someone abandoned it because they couldn’t make the payments.”
So, he did not really steal a car, only took advantage of an abandoned one. Mark Cuban said that he called the bank that held the debt on the car and it agreed he could keep it if Cuban took over the payments. This story gives great insight into the mind of the man who would go on to earn billions.
And for Mark Cuban, the best part of being rich is that it affords him a great deal of free time
“People are like, ‘What’s the best part about being rich?’” Cuban said he gets asked a lot. “Freedom, right? [And] time. I get to control my time.”
Mark Cuban also spoke about new AI tech like t ChatGPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) with the A.I. newsletter Not a Bot.
“Time productivity will be defined by how well you can ask the right questions to get the appropriate answers from your models,” said Cuban, calling generative A.I. “the real deal,” and saying, “We are just in its infancy.”
