Alicia Silverstone is turning heads at age 46. The celebrity did so by posing nude in a new advertisement for PETA – People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
“DON’T BE A PRICK! Wear Vegan. Buy cactus, mushroom or apple leather instead!” says the PETA ad. And Alicia Silverstone, whose father was born Jewish and whose mother converted, declared, “I’d rather go naked than wear animals.”
“Baring it all to get the facts out: leather made from cows kills animals AND the planet.”

In a PETA campaign video Alicia Silverstone said, “If it takes me getting naked for you to care about animals then that is what I’m after,”
“I never, ever, get naked in TV, in film, nothing, never, nope — but I’ve done it for PETA because that’s how much it matters to me,
“There’s this idea that leather is somehow better for the earth but what they don’t realize is the amount of resources – water, food, oil for transport – the amount of energy that goes into making leather is extraordinary. It’s just not sustainable. The Earth can’t handle it,” she added.
“My dream is to get these vegan, Earth-friendly materials into the hands of famous designers. I’d rather go naked than wear animals,”
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is the largest animal rights organization in the world, and PETA entities have more than 9 million members and supporters globally.
PETA opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview, and focuses its attention on the four areas in which the largest numbers of animals suffer the most intensely for the longest periods of time: in laboratories, in the food industry, in the clothing trade, and in the entertainment business.
Alicia Silverstone made it big with the hit 1995 movie “Clueless.” She is known for her environmental activism and promotion of vegetarianism. She does this, in part, through her blog The Kind Life.
