Soon we will see how many people out there protest this casting as cultural appropriation. After all, Gadot is neither a Queen nor a fairy tale character herself. So, who does she think she is taking on such a role?
Remember, a little over a year ago it was announced that Gal Gadot would play Cleopatra in a new movie under development. But Arabs complained that it is wrong for an Israeli to play the Egyptian queen and wanted to know why they could not cast an Egyptian actress.
People who actually know history know that modern Egypt has no connection to ancient Egypt. Its people do not trace their ancestries to the ancient Egyptians, its language and culture are Arab and not Egyptian and Cleopatra was actually Greek herself, the descendant of the Greeks who occupied Egypt and ruled the country from the time of Alexander the Great.

This is also true about the evil queen from Snow White. She did not really exist. She is just a fairy tale character and so it does not matter what the race, nationality, religion, sexual orientation, or anything else may be true of the actress who portrays her on screen.
As for the new movie, Deadline says that it will expand upon the story and music from the original Disney animated classic. Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the Oscar- and Tony-winning duo behind La La Land, The Greatest Showman and Dear Evan Hansen, will write new songs for the movie.
Production on Snow White is expected to start in 2022.
