George Soros is no stranger to ad hominem attacks and various attacks on his character. He has been baselessly accused of having been in the Hitler youth and being behind communist plots around the world. Now Glenn Youngkin, the Republican nominee for governor of Virginia, has joined in the Soros slurring chorus.
George Soros is the man who recently donated $500 million to Bard College. This was one of the largest single donations ever made to a school.

So, what did Glenn Youngkin say?
Youngkin is currently running in a tight race against the democratic incumbent Terry McAuliffe. And he has made local education a main issue of his campaign. Well, at a campaign rally held in Burke, a town in northern Virginia, Youngkin for some reason decide to blame George Soros for problems in the state’s education system.
Describing Virginia schools as being in a state of “chaos,” the candidate told supporters gathered at the rally, “The blame for these wrongs and the present chaos in our schools, lay squarely, squarely at the feet of 40-year politician Terry McAuliffe. But also, George Soros-backed allies. These allies that are in the liberal progressive movement, they’ve been inserting political operatives into our school system disguised as school boards.”
Rep. Elaine Luria, D-Va., a Jewish moderate Democratic congresswoman from Virginia Beach said on Twitter,. “Evoking George Soros as a shadowy funder is an antisemitic conspiracy theory. This is an unacceptable statement from Glenn Youngkin.”
Such attacks on George Soros have been going on for years. He has been accused of funding socialist groups that supposedly want to undermine American democracy. Donald Trump’s MAGA supporters made a special point of going after Soros. And for some reason, many Jews joined in without realizing that the lie that Soros was a Nazi war criminal is inherently an anti-Semitic attack.
For the record, Soros survived the war as a boy in Hungary who was only 15 years old when it ended. A local Christian family took him in and pretended that he was Christian himself. As a teen he was forced to join the Hungarian fascist youth movement.
He never collaborated with anyone to help the Germans or did anything to turn Jews over to the Nazis for deportation to Auschwitz. Such slanders are reprehensible and no matter what a person’s politics, everyone should condemn them for what they are.
Most of his money goes to philanthropic work.
