Robert Kraft Invests in Drive by DraftKings

Robert Kraft has invested in Drive by DraftKings. Drive raised $60 million for its debut fund from a number of sports franchise owners like Kraft, as well as other prominent sports figures. Kraft invested though his Kraft Group, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, part owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers Todd Boehly also invested and so did Madison Square Garden.

DraftKings is an American daily fantasy sports contest and sports betting platform founded in 2012 by Jason Robins, Matthew Kalish, and Paul Liberman.

Some investments that Drive has already made include part of a $3.5 million seed round in May for digital media platform Just Women’s Sports, it also firm led a $4 million funding round in Toya, a female-founded gaming studio in September and has invested in fitness wearable maker WHOOP and Guidesly, an app that advises users on fishing trips.

“We are proud and excited to have assembled this roster of prominent investors. Not only do they embrace our vision to facilitate growth and innovation in sports tech and entertainment, they also provided the capitol to join our mission,” Meredith McPherron, Drive by FraftKings CEO.

Theo Epstein is one of the prominent sports figures who is part of the firm. Epstein was the baseball executive who brought championships to the Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs after a century of drought.
“Technology is changing sports and entertainment so rapidly and if you aren’t close to that change, you’re falling behind,” said Epstein, a current MLB consultant, in a statement. “I joined Drive by DraftKings’ All-Star Network to be connected to the people shaping the future of the industry.”
