The Oculus Quest 2 is a Virtual Reality (VR) headset created by Oculus, a brand owned by Facebook. Released in the fall of 2020, Oculus Quest 2 has mostly positive reviews despite some minor criticism (such as being required to log in to Facebook in order to use it). The design of the Quest 2 is similar to its predecessor, although it is lighter in both color and weight. While the approval process for the Oculus store is fairly rigorous (meaning that you are not likely going to encounter a game that doesn’t work well or would be better played on the PlayStation or Xbox), some games for the Quest 2 are better than others. Some are not great, but some are extremely high quality. If you plan on getting the Oculus Quest 2 these are our Top 5 recommendations for games you should try out first.

Population: One is a first-person shooter (FPS) battle royale game similar to Player Unknown Battlegrounds (PUBG), Fortnite, and Apex Legends. However, one very impressive and VR only innovation present in the game is the ability for the player to climb any surface. This makes gameplay very exciting and intense as teams scramble to get the best line-of-sight, and from high locations players can use wingsuits to glide across the map to evade or hunt down opponents.
4# – Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted
Players seeking a thrill can find it here. Most horror games nowadays are not actually as scary as advertised, or as frightening as YouTubers often portray. Often these games are just gross or creepy. Not with this game. Across forty different spooky minigames, the player must go through various steps and challenges in order to avoid a well-timed jump scare. FNAF Help Wanted is one of the best horror games on the market right now, as well as being one of the best games on the Oculus Quest 2.
3# – Beat Saber
More than just the typical rhythm game like Guitar Hero or Rockband, this game puts the player’s skills to the test, challenging the player’s ability to react quickly to increasingly more difficult scenarios. The player will be given what are essentially two lightsabers, and must slash through the correctly matched color blocks. There are additional hazards such as bombs and walls that the player must dodge. The game comes with a pretty good EDM soundtrack to match the cyberpunk aesthetic, and is sure to provide the player with a decent full-body workout. It seems like a fairly simple game but we can assure you that it can provide dozens of hours of trance-inducing gameplay.
#2 – Until You Fall
Until You Fall is a hack-and-slash the requires the player to be very strategic in battles in a way similar to the Dark Souls series. Carefully timed attacks, blocks, and dodges are critical to survival. In a brightly colored neon fantasy world, the player must fight back challenging magical monsters set to an exciting synth-wave soundtrack. Over time, you will develop your own personal fighting style. If the player is defeated, they must restart on a new run. Each run will be different with randomized rewards, powerups, rooms, and enemies. Once you pick this highly addictive game up it is very difficult to put down. It will be 2am and you’ll still be saying, “just one more minute.”
#1 – The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners
Fans of the Walking Dead television series may find this interesting but even those that haven’t watched any of it can still easily find fun in this zombie shooter game. Reminiscent of Left 4 Dead, players must fight through swarms of disgusting undead through the streets of walker-infested New Orleans. Players must fight bravely; scavenge for weapons, food, and tools; and sneak carefully in order to survive. Multiplayer is extremely fun and the graphics are excellent, and the game includes a very open-world environment and a crafting system. Aside from being a survival and shooter game, there is also an element of mystery and storytelling that is sure to keep players interested.
