Sheldon Adelson, the CEO and Chairman of Las Vegas Sands has announced that he will be taking a leave of absence from that position while he undergoes cancer treatment. The 87-year-old billionaire was diagnosed in the past with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2019.
Robert Goldstein will be stepping in to fill Sheldon Adelson’s shoes temporarily. He is the president and chief operating officer of Las Vegas and will serve as CEO of Las Vegas Sands and Sands China Ltd. while Adelson is on medical leave.
Sheldon Adelson was one of President Trump’s biggest and earliest supporters. He donated a great deal to both of Donald Trump’s presidential campaigns. In 2020, he the billionaire donated $176 million to help President Trump get reelected as well as to Republican causes in general. The money was funneled through the Preserve America PAC.
